Hey guys! I have been so super busy with wedding planning, so I thought it’d be fun to do a little update/wedding Wednesday post for you guys! Whether you are already married, getting married, single as ever, there are so many things that change every year with planning, and it’s so much work that you don’t expect! But then again, who thought planning a wedding would be easy?!

We found our venue last year about a month after we got engaged. We knew, since i’m a teacher that we’d have to get married over the summer if we wanted a honeymoon to happen right after, and we didn’t want to wait two years to get married so we decided to plan a wedding in 13ish months – crazy, I know, but definitely worth it!! And a lot of people are getting married in less than a year, so I guess we aren’t too crazy!

We had a family friend, Erika Edwards take our engagement photos – boy were we awkward! We aren’t much of the PDA type, and we aren’t very good models romantically ;). She was so sweet, and worked so well with us – and it rained and drizzled the ENTIRE time! I was a wet mop by the end of it! She did such a good job editing and making them perfect for us!

We had our engagement party about 3 months after we got engaged, and this was the only time that I could ever get all of my bridesmaids together (except one who was getting back from Croatia this day 🙁 ..) so I thought it’d be the perfect time to ask them! I asked them with the confetti popping balloons, so I wanted to do it all together so that whoever wanted to post it – could without ruining how i’d ask the other girls! Ten BEAUTIFUL bridesmaids!

Recently, my mom and I went to the vendor that works with our venue to pick out table linens, centerpieces, etc. I originally started my wedding wanting a white/champagne theme since it’s so elegant and clean. My bridesmaids were all going to be in gold sequin dresses, which I then realized it would snag and give them rashes on their arms from rubbing against sequins. I then chose to have them all in champagne colored dresses. That quickly went down the drain when I thought about all of the different skin tones and how some wouldn’t be happy wearing a cream dress – and if they are spending a good buck on it I want them to be happy. I then made the shift to 3 different colored dresses, and I let them choose which color and style they wanted, with 4 of them ending up being champagne (perfect because majority are then in my wedding color). I am so happy I did this, and I hope they are too. They will all look so gorgeous in them on my wedding day!

Sorry for the tangent, but that just explains how my color scheme got a little off from what I wanted, so i’m sticking with everything else being as white and champagne as possible! I started off wanting white covered chairs with champagne sashes, but then realized it reminded me of an old movie where an antique room has a bunch of sheets covering old pianos and such that kids get freaked out because they think their ghosts, etc. I then moved over to wanting chiavari (probably spelled that incorrect) chairs with tool bows around it to make it pretty, tie in my colors, and it will open up the room more since we invited about 280 people! Plus, they are more summery! I chose this runner since it meshes with when I first wanted my bridesmaids to wear gold sequin dresses, and since I want tall vases with flowers alternating with short flower centerpieces, it helps fill the table without filling it with junk! My mom was trying to convince me to have a mirror, or candles, and i’m a very simple person, so I decided quickly against it!

They are remodeling our venue, so here is a picture of what the remodel will look like. The right side is lined with almost floor to ceiling windows, and the back wall has those 3 mirrors to open up the room. They are finished April 1st so i’m super excited to see it!

I found this cake on google when I was looking for champagne and white cakes and it is absolutely perfect – simplistic, but pretty! It also ties in with our theme, and Tom is picking out the cake topper on top. ; )

These are the bouquets that I want the bridesmaids to have (we are going to the florist next Saturday) since they are all in 3 different colored dresses, plain white will tie in the uniform feel to it. I want a little more green added to it, but I think this being different from plain white roses is so romantic and pretty.

This last one is a picture of the bouquet that I want. I want mine to be different, and tie in my white and champagne theme. It will also bring out the champagne and mocha dresses as well. Thank heavens for pinterest and google because this has been such a long process!! Everything that I have decided on, I have almost changed within a few months because I change my mind after seeing new things.

This upcoming weekend we are meeting with the florist, doing our entree tasting, checking out the church to see what decorations we would want, and then meeting our invitation designer. It will be a busy day, but after we get all of those things done all that is left is to book our honeymoon, register at places, oh and a million other things that come up. They say that booking all of the places gets you crazy, then six months out gets you crazy, and then you’re fine until closer to when it’s all the little things. Thank heavens my fiance is amazing, my mom is amazing, and everyone else who has helped out is amazing – it’s helping me hopefully not turn into a bridezilla!!

Happy Wedding Wednesday, and thanks for following along!:)

Hey guys! Today marks one full year since I started blogging on my website – passionforfashion!! I have been posting clothes and ootd posts before that for those who have always been following along (thank you!). And to those who are new here, thank you to you too! 🙂 I wouldn’t be here without any of you. I have learned so much about blogging and social media alone over the past year that I am going to share my highs and lows with you all. I am sharing 5 of my highs and 5 of my lows, but don’t ever forget that I love doing this!:)

Highs and successes:

  1. Most importantly I got accepted into RewardStyle – that was my goal and I achieved it in my first year!
  2. I have grown over 2,000 followers. Some I can tell I don’t have interaction with, but you obviously clicked the follow button for a reason! From those followers I have formed so many great bonds and friendships with people.
  3. I have recycled so many clothes from my closet, it has been good to help me purge and organize and see what I really need.
  4. Tom has had so much experience he is actually becoming a very good photographer – and it has been something we bond over (even though he doesn’t always like it!)
  5. It has definitely showed me that I don’t just have one style. I go from casual, to dressy, to athleisure, and it is so fun because that is what I pride myself on is being able to dress differently.

Lows and stuff I have learned:

  1. I am on my phone A LOT – whether it’s mindless scrolling, working on blog posts, editing photos, looking at new clothes, tagging products, etc. it has brought me to be on my phone a lot so it’s caused me to have to set time aside to really appreciate my time with Tom and others away from social media.
  2. There has been a lot of rejection. I have reached out to brands that say my following is too small, which I agree, but the worst thing they can say is no – and I keep trying.
  3. It is so hard to grow – there is nothing I want more than to engage and reach out to so many more people, but with Instagram and so many girls starting blogs now it is very hard to get noticed.
  4. It is very hard to be utterly open and honest with everything. I love to share about my lifestyle because it gives me an outlet to express myself, which is a lot of fun, but it is very hard to be completely vulnerable and expose your life (the good and bads).
  5. When I first started, I only wanted to get a high amount of followers, so I hosted giveaways, which does not gain you true followers – I don’t recommend that at all. I have totally changed my approach to just trying to interact as much as possible. It takes a lot of time, but gaining two new followers from commenting on their photo and forming that bond is more important than gaining 600 followers who just want to win something.

Things to remember:

If you are a new blogger, don’t get discouraged. It’s easy to feel doubt and want to give up because it’s so hard to grow. If you truly love it, keep doing it, and people will see your passion and follow along for you. It’s easy to get discouraged if you post a picture and it doesn’t get a lot of likes compared to your other ones. It may depend on which part of your following it gets exposed to. I have about 2,700 followers and my “insights” show that my posts only reach about 20% of my following. Try not to let it get to your head! I’ve had days towards the beginning where i’ve balled to Tom saying that i’ll never make it as a blogger and I should just quit and give up, but Tom has reminded me that i’m doing this because I love it and to keep trying it out and see where it goes.

As you can see, there are good and bad to everything, and I wouldn’t change this past year for anything! Although I haven’t grown much, with what I have done, I have met some amazing women and formed some great bonds! I have had collaborations which give me experience, and is so fun to try products. I am able to share my outfits all of the time – even if people don’t purchase for their reason, I love being able to share where I get all of my stuff from. So, from my heart to you – thank you! What is also fun about today is that it’s a day full of love for this reason, AND I have one of my best friends engagement parties to celebrate her and her fiance! They have been together for 6 years and I cannot wait for them to get married!

Hey guys! Valentines day is coming up on Wednesday, so I wanted to do a “last minute gifts for him” post for you all! Express has some killer sales, so I thought i’d base it around that and all of their cute little stuff! I went into the Express store today and I thought everything was SO cute in there! Especially all of the guys stuff. I’m very lucky to have 4 malls surrounding me that I can go to if one Express doesn’t carry something I want, but their online shipping is fast too! If you don’t have time to run into a store, their shipping will get it to you (maybe not in time for Vday – but then you can make the celebration continue, right?!) Tom and I aren’t celebrating until Friday because a) I have parent teacher conferences Wednesday night, and b) who wants to celebrate on a Wednesday? ; )

I have linked a grid of all of the items, and below it is a widget you can click through to see which are at price points you like and the direct links to them. Happy shopping, and happy early valentine’s day!

Hey all! January was a whirl wind of events and weather, so I thought it’d be fun to commit to Instagram round ups every month this year so I can see all of the most popular of my posts all together. I have chosen the top 10 favorite and most liked outfits from January. If any items are sold out, I have linked almost IDENTICAL ones (otherwise I wouldn’t have chosen that photo to recap:)). I also inserted a widget at the bottom with all of the items for you to click on. Enjoy!!

I love Free People anything and this top is no different! It is so thick but breezy and I love the color! I definitely wish I got it in more colors!

Dress is here, boots here, sunglasses here

This dress is the perfect length to wear with winter boots and it fits the body without being too tight, which I like. The cuff sleeves add a little cuteness to it, and the back comes a little lower to cover your butt!

I have ranted and raved about these boots for a long time, but I just LOVE them! So hard to find OTK boots that stay up, but these do the trick! I love pairing them with jeans and a cute sweater.

This dress is more on the expensive side, but definitely worth it. It has bow detailing on one side which makes it cute as ever! It does run on the bigger side, I wish I had sized down. I paired it with the same boots as the previous picture since it is freezing in Chicago!

I love a good off the shoulder sweater, especially ones in army/hunter green. I love the way the color blends with blue jeans, and the cozy look it gives off.

I got this top from express, among many others, and they just keep coming out with great sweaters. Anything with ruffles of some sort, I love – so it was a no brainer that this was screaming my name. It is roomy and it can be worn off the shoulder or regular as a cowl neck, which is perfect for versatility.

I have this thermal in so many colors and I absolutely love it! It goes perfect just plain with jeans, with leggings since it is long enough, or you can pair it under a leather or moto jacket for a chick look. Not to mention it has thumb holes!

Fun fact – this is the only time these slippers have left my place, and I thoroughly washed the bottoms as soon as we got back inside. This outfit was just too cute I couldn’t NOT go outside and have Tom take a picture – but these are my house slippers and I didn’t want to take them off! This sweater is SO soft and comes in more than one color. I’m a sucker for sleeve details.

All black everythangggggg. Anytime I see this picture I laugh because we are outside of Costco, and this is the trip where Tom knocked over the display of Dunkin Donuts. Still cracks me up! This outfit was perfect for walking around and running errands in, and these shoes are so comfortable to be on your feet all day!

Fleece pullover here, leggings here, shoes here, purse here

I actually have this fleece pullover in two colors, the charcoal and brown. It is so warm and perfect for this winter weather. I just couldn’t decide which to get so I got both. It’s not like I won’t use them, right?! Anytime I wear them anyone around me wants to hug me because it is soo so soft! Definitely one of my favorite Christmas purchases.

Express has been killing it lately with their sweater options, and I know I rant and rave about them all the time, but how could I not?! They have the best sales, also! I wore this when it was warmer out (not Chiberia:)), and it paired nicely with these levi jeans. These are also my go to jeans as i’m sure you guys have seen me in them dozens of time! They are probably my most favorite out of all my light wash pairs. They don’t stretch out after you wear them so they don’t get saggy which is hard to find. A must have!

We almost made it to February and I cannot WAIT for warmer weather. Who thought I would ever say that?! Not me!! I think it’s the blogger in me wanting to be outside for more than 2 minutes snapping pictures real quick just so I can get back into warmth haha! There are also a lot of things coming up this summer that I am excited for! School for us gets out June 1st which is so early, but i’m not complaining! That gives us all of June, and all of July before we go back early August.

I know there has been a lot going around about bloggers putting up fake fronts because you only see the best on Instagram or someones blog, because who wants to really show their worst? So i’m going to let you in on a little something to show you my life is not perfect, even thought i’m sure everyone already knows that. If you saw my Instagram post from Monday, you know that I had an emotional day, and it has really been an emotional week (yes, I know it’s only Wednesday). Some tensions have been rising with family, and I found out some horrible news about two of my coworkers. I’m not going to get into detail because i’m not going to put too much information on blast here, but just know that it’s enough to push me over the edge after piling and piling up – and i’m not that easy to push over. So on Monday after school I went over to my parents and just vented and cried to them for a good while. I am the type of person who bottles up their emotions and then just explodes… and it happened, KABOOM!

The good that came out of that is that it made my relationships stronger with my parents (even thought that’s hard to top!), and a few of my friends texted me to see what was going on, which shows who really cares about me to make sure everything was alright off of one Instagram caption. My one friend Krista even texted my fiance to give me a hug and be nice to me that night (how sweet is she?!?!?!). It’s things like that to make my heart explode with happiness in dark times and upset days like the one I was having.

I’m also the type of person who has thin skin, and the smallest things people say could bother me. An example was one time I posted a picture of myself (and this was not too long ago) wearing a FAUX fur vest. I didn’t put the word FAUX in my caption because it wasn’t making my play on words work (which comes from my sarcastic personality). This girl commented on it saying she can’t support people who wear fur and kill animals and started hash tagging to stop animal cruelty and all of these things. I got so flustered and in a tizzy, and I wasn’t even wearing real fur!! I was so nervous everyone would think I was an animal killer and unfollow me, or no longer support me, and that my blogging life would be dampened. BUT, my lesson learned from that is that I apparently have to be more careful with my words because you can never know who will take them out of context. That, and I need to grow thicker skin.

Well, sorry for the long post, but I love going into detail and explaining everything so you can know a little more about me instead of me just always giving out outfit details. I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week!
